(1760-1832)

Sir Frederick Fletcher Vane 2nd Bt (1760-1832) Lyonel's eldest son Sir Frederick was a colourful, not to say difficult character. He was elected MP for Carlisle in 1796 after a notoriously corrupt campaign. For a time he also employed the celebrated John Peel as his huntsman, who established a record-breaking run of 70 miles in the 1830s.

Sir Frederick died in 1832, leaving the estate to his son Francis.
